What’s Different about Bon Echo Family Campground?
Experience Peaceful Mother Nature
We are relatively non-commercialized. We’ve kept this get-away as close to nature as possible protecting many trees and natural bushes. Our well-kept facilities and buildings have a definite “rustic” theme, which fit in well with the natural surroundings.
Don’t Give up Modern Conveniences
You will enjoy full power and water hook-ups, plus never be more than 3 minutes walk from our clean washroom facility featuring sinks, hot showers, and flush toilets. You can also stay connected with work or loved ones with our Wi-Fi.
Relax on a Clean, Safe, Quiet Lake with Good Fishing
Little Marble Lake is small with very few motorized boats buzzing around like at many places, so it’s safe for your children. In fact it’s so quiet you may feel like you have your own private lake! Our smooth sandy beach is very shallow for about 20-30 feet so your small children can play safely in the water. Out a little further, enjoy a nice swim or calm outing in one of our canoes, kayaks or pedal boats. Some campers simply drift out onto the lake on a floating mattress – reading or napping. If you’re into fishing, this small lake has some big fish! If you want bigger water, the huge Lake Mazinaw is just around the corner with boat launches at Smart’s Marina .
Escape the Noise & Crowds
Getting out of your vehicle, you will likely smell the refreshingly clean air, hear the soft breeze in the pines, and marvel at how quiet and relaxing this place is. We are a relatively small campground, not a “trailer city” with all the hustle and noise that comes with that. Noisy, rowdy campers or drunken party animals are not welcome.
Each year thousands come in droves to nearby Bon Echo Provincial Park which at times can be a crowded, exciting, hub of activity! Many travelers who are visiting the park during the day stay with us instead since they want a quieter out-of-the-way place to relax. They also don’t want to walk a mile to washroom facilities and the beach.
You Never Have to Walk to Far
Our small size allows you to relax and keep an eye on your children easier. Since the entire campground hugs the shore, you will likely have a view of the water from your campsite and are never more than 60-120 seconds walk from the shore or beach.
Lots to See & Do Nearby
At nearby Bon Echo Provincial Park , you can tour this majestic nature preserve and rent a canoe to view the massive Mazinaw Rock (cliffs) up close. Or take a 45-minute guided boat tour and learn about the many native rock paintings estimated to be over 2000 years old! If you like hiking, a ferry can transport you to the cliffs where you climb over 260 feet of stairs to the cliff-top trails. The view from above will take your breath away!
Just down the street from us is a really interesting antique shop and small bird zoo – you can walk or canoe there.
The Village of Cloyne , only a 5 minute drive to the south, has a Pioneer Museum , public library, a Home Hardware, an auto repair garage, a convenience store, grocery and butcher shop with an ATM, a camping/bait/tackle shop and you can order a pizza too! You can dine at Snider’s Restaurant or on the outdoor patio at Marble Lake Lodge. Plus there are 2 golf courses nearby. The Village of Northbrook , 7 minutes south of Cloyne has an IGA, Beer and Liquor stores, a Medical Centre, Bank of Montreal, Laundromat, and a Pub.
"The hot showers & clean washrooms were great! I loved singing songs around the camp fire.”

Management
Stu Hilts—Campground Supervisor
Stu and Beth Hilts live on-site and look after the day-to-day operations of the campground. Stu has run the campground for a number of years and is well known in the community. Being outdoors in the peace and quiet of mother nature is where Stu feels most at home. He greets guests with a friendly smile and warm voice while at the same time has no problems asking disorderly visitors to leave. Our campers rest easy knowing while they are away, Stu and Beth are there all year round watching over the campground.
Ralph Gentile—Owner
Ralph’s story is the closest you’re going to get to that old TV series “Green Acres” where Eddie Albert and Zsa Zsa Gabor move from Manhatten to a farm. A down town Toronto stock-trader, city slicker Ralph decided he wanted a quieter place in which to raise a family. In 1975 he bought a small farm south of Napanee and moved his family with him. Since that time he has owned numerous businesses, started the Music By the River annual festival where Avril Lavigne once appeared, was President of the local Optimists Club, was instrumental in the Napanee Pavilion being built, as well as numerous other festivals and events. In 2006 Ralph was declared “Greater Napanee Citizen of the Year.”
Always friendly and willing to help, being a campground owner is a perfect role for Ralph, where he strives to ensure all visitors have a fun, enjoyable, and relaxing experience. Ralph can normally be found puttering around at the campground on weekends.
